Unit 430 began a Mentoring Program for players in 2008. Players sign up to be mentors or mentees (sometimes both) and a Unit Member matches up any who sign up. Players are also allowed to sign up for the program as a mentor-mentee pair. Below is the current description of the program, plus any news about the programs offered by the Unit. Continue Reading »

Unit 430′s main function is to promote duplicate bridge, and one of our most productive ways of doing this is by supporting local clubs. More deals are played and more new duplicate players are first brought into our game at clubs than at tournaments. Unit 430 is a large Unit and there are many places one can play bridge. The listed pages will tell you all about them, and also contain lists of weekly games and special events at clubs, plus links to the latest standings in the Ace of Clubs masterpoint races, where only points earned at clubs count. Board Meetings are held approximately ten times a year, usually on the first Thursday evening of most months, at the Vancouver Bridge Centre. The minutes from these meetings are first sent to Board Members to review and approve. Once approved, we can post them here. Occasionally there will be news items on the site resulting from the minutes that are released before the minutes are approved. Continue Reading »
Unit 430 runs an annual extended teams competition each year that we call the IMP League. Play begins in October and continues through the winter to mid-April, with playoffs in each division following in April and May (and sometimes slightly beyond). Teams of 4-6 players play a match against another team two or three times a month, usually at a bridge club or occasionally at someone’s home. Usually there are two or three divisions to separate the top players from the more casual or social players, and in some years we have enough interest to have a division of newer players.
