Win Gold at the D19 Grand National Teams Finals!

Are you on the hunt for GOLD points? Do you like to play teams against players at your level? Want to go to Minneapolis next summer to represent District 19 in the Grand National Teams? Come play in the GNT District Finals.

If you are looking for gold points, playing in the GNT District 19 finals can be a very rewarding event. How much gold you can win depends upon how many teams participate in your flight. Last year, Flight C paid out 10 gold to the winners (Team Li); coming in second paid 7.5 gold (Team Carlson). In the B flight, the winners (Team Reams) won 33.5 gold and the second-place team (Team Ying) won 23.45 gold.

District Finals will be held in two locations this spring. The last weekend of the Leavenworth Regional (April 18-19) will host the A Flight and Flight C, while the Championship Flight and Flight B will be held at the Burnaby Sectional (May 16-17).

The winning team in each flight at the District Finals is invited to participate in the GNT finals of the GNT at the Summer NABC in Minneapolis, starting July 8. If there are at least 8 teams in Flight B and/or Flight C, then two teams in that flight will qualify for the National finals.

Note you don’t have to commit to go to the finals in Minneapolis in order to play in the District Finals. This is a great way to win a lot of gold playing at your own level.

In 2025, the ACBL changed the masterpoint requirements for some of the flights, allowing more to participate in C and in B. Here are the new flight restrictions:

Open Championship: Unlimited
Flight A: Under 6000 MPs
Flight B: Under 3000 MPs
Flight C: Non Life Master Under 750 MPs

Prequalification at club level is strongly encouraged, but not required to play. Each team member who has not prequalified will be allowed to play in the D19 finals with a $30.00 (local currency) buy-in. Fees at the District Finals per team: $144 US or $168 CAN per day.

To find out if you have pre-qualified and to view the full conditions of contest for our District, visit the ACBL’s GNT qualifier page. Note that our District’s list of qualified players will not be posted until March 6, 2026.

This is a fun event, and for those of you who have never participated, please give it a try! If you have any questions, please contact the GNT/NAP Coordinator, Ann Romeo, at annromeo@gmail.com.
