D19 Came to Play at the Fall 2025 NABC

The members of District 19 made an impressive showing at the Fall 2025 NABC in San Francisco.

At the Nail Life Master Pairs on November 28-29, Tom Carmichael (Marysville, WA) and Dan Jacob (Vancouver, BC) placed 7th overall.  Dan also placed 19th in the Kaplan Blue Ribbon Pairs with a separate partnership.

In the 0-3000 Pairs (Nov 29-30), JC & Scott Chupack (Seattle, WA) placed 5th.  They then followed that up by taking second in the 0-3000 Teams (Dec 1-2) with teammates Arthur Resnick (Seattle, WA) and Rosemay Vazeux (Seattle, WA).

Mike Develin (Kirkland, WA) and Robert Glickman (Seattle, WA) both placed 4th and 9th respectively in the 10K Fast Pairs (Dec 3-4).  Robert also placed 11th in the 10K IMP Pairs (Dec 1-2).

Shawn Abernethy (Seattle, WA) took 4th in the Whitehead Womens Pairs (Dec 2-3).  She also achieved the rank of Gold Life Master via her win in that event.

In the Mini Blue Ribbons (Dec 2-4), several D19 players made the overalls:  David Taylor (Seattle, WA) placed 8th; Robert Bell (Gig Harbor, WA) and Ben Tucker (Vashon, WA) placed 16th; Kevin Cline (Seattle, WA) and Aaron Mohrman (Seattle, WA) placed 17th; and James & Lily Andre (Allyn, WA) placed 23rd.

D19 had several players place highly in the Mitchell Open Board-A-Match Teams (Nov 30-Dec 1) while on teams spanning multiple districts. Tom Carmichael (Marysville, WA), Stan Christie (Kirkland, WA), and Bryan Delfs (Vancouver, WA) placed 8th. Ben Bomber (Grandview, WA) and Ray Miller (Seattle, WA) placed 12th. Arthur Gong (Sammamish, WA) placed 16th. Brad Bart (Coquitlam, BC) and Matthew Weingarten (Seattle, WA) placed 21/22nd (tied with another team).  Alex Hong (West Vancouver, BC) placed 25th.  Last but far from least, Dan Jacob (Vancouver, BC) placed 28th. 

Alex Hong (West Vancouver, BC) also took 2nd in the Keohane North American Swiss Teams (Dec 5-7).

In the NABC+ Mixed Pairs (Dec 4-5), Jenni Carmichael (Marysville, WA) and Bryan Delfs (Vancouver, WA) led the charge at 12th place. Michael Christensen (Seattle, WA) and Becky Stevens (Seattle, WA) took 35th. Kim Eng (Issaquah, WA) and Eric Sieg (Issaquah, WA) took 47th.  James Rasmussen (Seattle, WA) finished 48th.  James also took 18th in the NABC+ Mixed Swiss (Dec 6-7), and Shelley Burns (North Vancouver, BC) took 21st in that event.

Beyond these wins at the National level, over a hundred players from D19 won masterpoints at this NABC.  The full list of masterpoint winners from the event is below:
